What Notarized is

Notarized is a technology platform. Notarial acts are performed by commissioned notaries public under the law of their own state, not by Notarized. Deeds and other instruments prepared on the platform are drafted from the information the ordering office provides and are reviewed by that office before they are signed, sealed or recorded.

Nothing on the platform is legal advice. Offices remain responsible for the transactions they close, and notaries remain responsible for the acts they perform.

Accounts

Offices open a workspace and are responsible for the people they invite into it. Notaries open an individual account and are responsible for keeping their commission details current. Signers do not need an account; they act through the link the office sends them.

You agree to give accurate information, to keep your sign-in secure, and to tell us if you believe your account has been used without your permission.

Orders, fees and payouts

Every order shows its fee before it is confirmed. Offices pay at checkout. County recording fees and transfer tax are computed from the county schedule and shown on the order before it is submitted.

Notaries are paid out per completed job to the bank account they connect. Paid notary plans renew monthly and can be changed or cancelled from the account.

A session or visit that cannot be completed for a reason on the signer's or office's side may still be charged where the notary has already performed work.

The record

Sessions are recorded. Journal entries are written automatically and cannot be edited. Sealed documents are hashed, timestamped and archived, and their seal status is visible to anyone who presents the seal code. By using the platform you agree to this record being created and kept for the period the applicable state requires.

Acceptable use

Do not use the platform to notarize or sign documents you are not authorized to sign, to impersonate anyone, to submit false identity information, or to interfere with another customer's data or sessions.

We may suspend an account that breaks these terms or that a notary's commissioning authority has suspended.

Availability and changes

We work to keep the platform available and will tell account holders about planned downtime. Features described as early access may change or be withdrawn.

We may update these terms; we will post the new date and notify account holders of material changes.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, Notarized is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the platform, and its total liability for a claim is limited to the fees paid for the order the claim relates to.
